Jaco Fouché, alias Prof

As ŉ professor en programleier vir Bestuursrekeningkunde by die Skool vir Rekeningkundige Wetenskappe op die Potchefstroomkampus van die Noordwes-Universiteit (NWU), beskik Prof oor verskeie professionele kwalifikasies, insluitende Geoktrooieerde Rekenmeester (CA(SA)), Gesertifiseerde Finansiële Beplanner(CFP) en Gesertifiseerde Aftree-afrigter (CPRC). Hy het ook ŉ meestersgraad in Finansiële Bestuur en ŉ doktorsgraad in Rekeningkunde-onderrig. Met meer as twee dekades se onderrigervaring op verskeie vlakke van kompleksiteit is hy vereer met verskeie uitnemende opvoeder- en aanbiedertoekennings, insluitende die beste dosenttoekenning by die NWU, die KPMG beste aanbiedertoekenning by die SAAA nasionale konferensie en ŉ HELTASA-toekenning. In 2022 het hy sy NRF-gradering as ŉ navorser inRekeningkunde-onderrig en Persoonlike Finansies ontvang.
Sy verantwoordelikhede sluit ondermeer in die aanbieding van die gevorderde Bestuursrekeningkundemodule op honneursvlak en Finansiële Strategie op meestersvlak. Sy huidige navorsing fokus op Rekeningkunde-onderrig, Persoonlike en Gedragsfinansies.

Prof is ŉ direkteur by Jenwil BlueStar Finansiële Adviesdienste. As ŉ finansiële adviseur spesialiseer hy inbeleggings en spesifiek in aftree-beplanning. Hy was ŉ Top 10-adviseur in die Noordwesprovinsie in 2021, 2022 en 2024, en het die toekenning vir beleggingskampioen in 2022 en 2024 ontvang.

As a professor and programme leader for Management Accountancy at the School of Accounting Sciences on the Potchefstroom Campus of the North-West University (NWU), Prof. possesses several professional qualifications, including Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), and Certified Professional Retirement Coach (CPRC). He also holds a master’s degree in Financial Management and a doctorate in Accounting Education. With more than two decades of teaching experience across various levels of complexity, he has been honoured with several distinguished educator and presenter awards, including the NWU Best Lecturer Award, the KPMG Best Presenter Award at the national SAICA conference, and a HELTASA award. In 2022, he received his NRF rating as a researcher in Accounting Education and Personal Finance.
His responsibilities include presenting the advanced Management Accounting module at honours level and Financial Strategy at master’s level. His current research focuses on Accounting Education, Personal Finance, and Behavioural Finance.
Prof. is also a director at Jenwil BlueStar Financial Advisory Services. As a financial advisor, he specialises in investments and particularly in retirement planning. He was a Top 10 advisor in the North West Province in 2021, 2022 and 2024 and received the Investment Champion Award in 2022 and 2024.

Jaco Barnard

Jaco Barnard is ŉ senior lektor en vakhoof van Bestuursrekeningkunde by die Skool vir RekeningkundigeWetenskappe op die Potchefstroomkampus van die Noordwes-Universiteit (NWU). Hy is ŉ Geoktrooieerde Rekenmeester (CA(SA)), ŉ finalis van die Geoktrooieerde Instituut van Bestuursrekenmeesters (CIMA) en het ŉ B.Com Honneurs in Rekeningkunde (CTA) behaal. Jaco het ook ŉ nagraadse diploma in FinansiëleBeplanning (PGDFP). Sedert hy in 2004 by die NWU aangesluit het, het Jaco op verskeie vlakke vankompleksiteit in die vakgebiede Bestuursrekeningkunde en Rekeningkunde klas gegee. Gedurende sy tyd by die NWU het hy ook talle top dosenttoekennings ontvang. Jaco en Prof het al etlike finansiële kursusse saam ontwikkel en aangebied, en Jaco weet darem so bietjie meer van Excel as Prof!

Jaco se akademiese CV is aansienlik korter as Prof s’n, en dit is dan ook die rede waarom hy nie die titel “Prof” waardig is nie! Hy is darem heelwat minder van ŉ “nerd” as Prof (rekenmeesters is maar almal inherente “nerds”) en bietjie meer gebalanseerd. Jaco is ŉ kranige sportman en neem veral deel aan ultra-marathons, hetsy op die pad of in die berge. Hy het al verskeie Comrades en Two Oceans marathons voltooi. Jaco hou baie van vakansie hou en hoe meer afgeleë en in die boendoes, hoe beter! Een van Jaco se grootste prestasies is dat hy dit reggekry het om Prof meer vakansie te laat hou, iets waarvoor Prof se vrou, Susan, Jaco ewig dankbaar sal bly.

Jaco Barnard is a senior lecturer and subject head of Management Accountancy at the School of Accounting Sciences on the Potchefstroom Campus of the North-West University (NWU). He is a Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)), a finalist of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), and holds a BCom Honours in Accounting (CTA). Jaco also completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning (PGDFP).
Since joining NWU in 2004, Jaco has taught across various levels of complexity in the fields of Management Accounting and Accounting. During his time at NWU, he has also received numerous top lecturer awards. Jaco and Prof have developed and presented many financial courses together, and Jaco definitely knows a bit more about Excel than Prof!
Jaco’s academic CV is considerably shorter than Prof’s—hence the reason he is not worthy of the title “Prof”! He is, however, far less of a “nerd” than Prof (although accountants are all inherent nerds) and slightly more balanced. Jaco is an avid sportsman who regularly competes in ultra-marathons, whether on the road or in the mountains. He has completed several Comrades and Two Oceans marathons. Jaco loves going on holiday—especially when the destination is remote and deep in the wilderness. One of Jaco’s greatest achievements is that he managed to get Prof to take more holidays, something for which Prof’s wife, Susan, will be forever grateful.
